The Adirondack Museum is a not-for-profit history museum with 22 indoor/outdoor exhibit areas on 32 beautifully landscaped acres. The museum has year-round full-time and part-time staff as well as seasonal staff and interns who work when the museum is open from Memorial Day weekend to mid-October. Seasonal job opportunities may be either full-time or part-time and include working in the store/admissions area, the café, in the exhibits, assisting families with hands-on activities, informing guests of membership opportunities, or working on the museum grounds.

Description:
The Adirondack Museum is seeking a Finance Assistant to assist the Finance Associate and Director of Finance in the day-to-day operations of the Finance Office. Duties include accounts payable, ordering office supplies, processing cash remittances, sales tax reporting, and providing general clerical support to the Director of Finance. This position is a part-time year-round position (1,400 hours/year) with benefits.
The Finance Assistant will be responsible for preparing purchase orders and personal service contracts, processing invoices, ensuring timely payments for approved invoices, ensuring vendor files are current, creating and monitoring required records for 1099 activity, preparing account receivable invoices for all departments as needed, preparing and submitting monthly sales tax returns, and processing cash remittance forms from all departments including Gifts & Contributions, Memberships, Mail Sales, Website Sales and Wholesale Sales. This individual will also provide general clerical support to the Director of Finance including typing, faxing, photocopying, and assisting with preparing board packets.
During the museum’s open season the Finance Assistant will count and verify money received with store, café and admission reports; investigate any discrepancies in these reports; and enter all information into several Excel spreadsheets. The Finance Assistant will also verify existing cash and determine the amount that needs to be ordered from the bank based on pre-established limits.
Qualifications:
A successful candidate will have prior experience with an automated accounting system (Blackbaud preferred) and a minimum of two years experience in accounts payable. Excellent attention to detail and a strong sense of financial integrity is required, as well as a proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Must be able to work on Mondays.

Café Assistant (Seasonal Position for July to Mid-October)

Description:
The Adirondack Museum is seeking a Café Assistant to work 3-5 days a week from July through mid-October. Duties will include preparing salads, sandwiches & soups, running the cash register, making coffee, replenishing supplies, picking up trays & washing down tables. Weekend work may be required.
Qualifications:
A successful candidate will have a friendly, positive attitude. Since this individual will also be responsible for stocking and selling wine and beer, they must be at least age 18.
